Alvin the Great… (Male Black & Tan Havanese Puppy) His posture says it all. Next to Eleanor, he is the next reserved personality, and I think he will be a great companion dog, much like our “Choco” who will patiently wait outside the bathroom, or in the kitchen for us when we are preoccupied.
Interesting Note: He was the first to climb out of the whelping box (all by himself) at 3.5 weeks.

We selected the Havanese breed because we are a family with allergies and we wanted a small dog that was hypo-allergenic, and was great with kids. The Havanese was the only breed that met our criteria.
We have not regretted our selection for a moment.

We have five new Havanese puppies in our home thanks to our Silver Havanese bitch “Lady”. Our daughter woke up in the middle of the night when we were whelping, so she got to be a part of the experience. This is her reaction to holding them shortly after they were born.
Dogs for Children with Allergies.
We are a special needs family. It is our goal to provide dogs for families.
One of the considerations we made when we selected our breed of choice was ALLERGIES.
My wife is extremely allergic to cats.
We have 3 children under 10, and we wanted to select a breed specifically
for its hypoallergenic qualities. It’s not much fun for a child to bond with a cuddly puppy,
and then to find out they have to get rid of their dog, because one or more
children in the family have allergies.
The Havanese breed is naturally hypoallergenic. This is great for children with Allergies. This is primarily due to the fact that their fur is not really like fur, it is like Human hair. The breed is also generally a naturally clean breed with good self grooming habits.
Hypo Allergenic Dogs? To be honest a few years ago, I didn’t even realize such an animal existed. The key to hypoallergenic properties is the type of fur (or more appropriately, the lack thereof). Hypoallergenic dogs, have “hair” that closely resembles human hair.
The concept is pretty simple, dogs with hair are generally not prone to tripping up “allergies.” So people who are allergic to dogs, do have options. The nice thing about finding a hypo-allergenic dog is the fact that they are naturally this way. No chemicals/medication involved. 
I find this especially encouraging for families who may have a child or parent that suffers from allergies to dogs. The Havanese breed (also known as the Havana Silk Dog) is a hypoallergenic breed.
While the possibility exists for someone to be allergic to them, the fact that they are hypoallergenic dramatically reduces the likelihood of that.
